2010 Community Colleges of Iowa Legislative Priorities
State General Aid: Supports increased State General Aid at an estimated $14.7 million as calculated by the formula adopted by the State Board of Education.
Workforce Training: Supports a long-term financial commitment of state and local assistance for skilled worker training through the Workforce and Economic Development Funds and other funding streams available to maintain and build capacity for skilled worker training.
Local Governance: Supports the 15 Community College Boards' local governance flexibility to access local taxing authority to meet the local community and workforce needs.
Iowa's economic success depends on an educated workforce. Education helps workers better support their families and helps businesses better compete and grow in today's economy. Community Colleges in Iowa provide positive payback to Iowa's economy.
