Evaluation

The purpose of conducting an evaluation is to garner feedback from conference attendees, to be used by subsequent year hosts in planning and executing a successful conference. It is critical to capture feedback on all encompassing events and items that translate from one community college host to the next. This may include:

  • Specific sessions and speakers
  • Meals and breaks
  • Facilities
  • Accommodations
  • Transportation
  • Schedule and timing of events
  • Auxiliary meetings
  • Golf
  • Tours and activities
  • Pre-conference communication and information
  • Registration and materials
  • Entertainment
  • Signage
  • Parking
  • General comments

Evaluations can be given to attendees at the close of the conference to complete prior to leaving, or to be returned via mail by a stated deadline. Evaluations can also be administered online through a variety of providers (SurveyMonkey, Zoomerang, etc.), where attendees are sent a follow-up e-mail after the conference and given a link to complete the survey online within a given timeframe. By utilizing an online tool, results are often tallied automatically and summary information is easily published.
