The legislative session wrapped up in May, but we are continuing our newsletters outside of session. In the interim, they’ll be coming to you monthly and include information and ideas on how to build relationships and lay the groundwork for next session. See below for ideas on how to connect with legislators this summer. Since session, our staff has also been working hard on plans for our Summer Virtual Conference being held on July 21 and 22. This event is open to everyone with Iowa’s Community Colleges at no cost. You’ll hear from local and national speakers including Anna Maria Chávez, an attorney, inspirational speaker, writer and community leader who was the first woman of color to head Girls Scouts of the USA. You’ll also get 15 Ideas from 15 Colleges, get an update on federal legislation, and hear a special message from Dirty Jobs’ Mike Rowe. Make sure to register ASAP so you get all the updates!
